Eversource volunteered more than 29,000 hours at company-sponsored events.
Eversource recently piloted a biodiversity project to support pollinator habitat by hosting 48 beehives at its Sunderland Solar Generation Facility in Massachusetts, with the site performing as both a solar generator and home for honeybees for several months. In partnership with Nashua Police Athletic League, employees have transformed a previously derelict area into a vibrant pollinator garden, engaging young people from local communities to plant native flowers, fostering both community engagement and biodiversity.
Considering Eversource’ s key role in the energy landscape of Massachusetts, it is supporting the Electric Sector Modernization Plan( ESMP), which is the state’ s legislation for moving to net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Eversource has installed the first two of 54 underground vaults for the Greater Cambridge Energy Program, for instance,
which is a key step forward in modernizing the City of Cambridge’ s power grid.
Powering the future
As New England’ s largest energy delivery company, Eversource is demonstrating that the energy transition isn’ t just about renewable energy generation, but rather a complete reimagining of energy infrastructure. From geothermal heating systems and battery storage projects to pollinator gardens and community solar programs, Eversource is striving to ensure reliability, accessibility, and sustainability. With ambitious projects like the Greater Cambridge Energy Program underway, Eversource is not only responding to demand for clean energy, but actively building a resilient, decarbonized grid that will serve the residents of New England for generations to come. ■
