Eversource system control center monitors the impact of the storm to estimate the size and cause of any outages. Restoration begins as soon as it’ s safe to do so, starting with damage assessments before an established set of priorities are followed.
This priority list focuses first on public safety calls, including police and lifethreatening situations. Once blocked roads are cleared, critical facilities like police and fire stations, hospitals, schools, and water plants are prioritized, followed by circuit backbones and lateral feeders like transmission lines and substations to repair the distribution network. Teams can then focus on restoring the most customers as quickly as possible while crews respond to less urgent needs.

The foundation of this strategy is building a strong infrastructure to deliver clean energy, with solar energy, geothermal energy, offshore wind power, and battery energy storage assets.
